short course

i need to stretch
         feel the flesh as

it enters the water
         each breath a gift

as my arms reach
         gathering the flimsy

water that escapes
         between my skin

and suit: it is beauty
         to see how it dissipates

my heat, the stress in
         my shoulder blades

we reemerge stronger
         the water and me: how

blue it is all is when i
         enter for that last time

i hope the ocean will be as strong
