if the earth cannot sustain us
what makes us think we can
continue down this path of
creation with repercussions
I suppose we all have a moment
in our life when we think we can
really make a difference. I remember
mine well - I was young, newly in college
and had the energy to organize and collaborate
and I brought everyone along, even if they did not care to come
I gave but all it brought about was a lot of parasites - until I was undone
and let it all go. where it went I am not sure but it is still about if you
walk down my undergrad hall - every year another me pops up
and every year another me gives up. when I met the hopeful to be
elected senator a few nights back I saw it in his eyes - this hope he
could make a difference. I wanted to tell him it won't really matter
see the earth cannot sustain us and it is about ready to give it all up
but he was busy shaking hands, taking pictures and forgetting his wife in the corner
