the heartbeat is bravery
as i rest my head against
his chest and hear the taps
i sigh, he holds me tighter
i move, he seeks me out
and i stare as he sleeps
there is nothing and yet
everything, he awakes to
tell me about his dream
about a battle ship, and
a speedy car about how
he notices a redheaded
boy among the many
dignitaries: i inch away
he pulls me closer, tells
me this time, it will be
slow, soft, not like i like
it, his heartbeat speeds
he is brave to tempt me
