a motion to set

another dead:  it is common now
i hear the bells ring and find it to
be not noon: so it is another dead

another row of cars readied to
depart and crowd the narrow
streets of downtown: encumbering

my ability to pass across where
hatred is dissipated in the form
of forms: how i hate motions

set this for next week or in two
after all the separation is going
well much better than the marriage

so it is only fitting that the divorce
be sped up and a motion set, an
order drafted: and i ponder if he

recalls that i was probably about
when he married her here at the
courthouse steps those three years

ago: her dress out of place, him in
uniform, promising:  God what is it
                            that we promise

as the cars rev and the sirens start
