"what i want to do in my last waiting days is:"

live among my people: i will not know their
language and it will be fitting: i will speak
like a child in their tongue: i will know that
my daughter is grown and in love or out if
she takes after her mother, my son will be
married for i will have picked his wife and
groomed her to his quirks: my mom passed
away, my lover an empty chair with a book
of emily's most beloved recitations: do not
fear it is by the ocean, the city i was born,
a bus ride away; and as i wait for the current
to be just right; i will listen to the wants of
my people: if only the he or she could reach
the mighty USA: with its storefronts, and ohh,
so many opportunities each will say: then they

say: they will be happy

and i will smile and shake my head yes, why destroy a dream, yet again.
